Kenzo Lacuarta (b. 2000, Philippines) is a figurative artist based in Montclair, New Jersey. He works with oil sticks, acrylic, and charcoal which allow ideas to be transferred directly onto large canvases with minimal brushwork. His work is largely inspired by observing incidental shapes that resemble familiar forms and faces, some of which have become recurrent characters in his sketches and paintings. Despite years of working solely in small sketchbooks, Kenzo approaches these canvases with the same playfulness and spontaneity.
